Maggie Grace (born Margaret Grace Denig November 21, 1983) is an American actress best well-known for her role in the roles of Shannon Rutherford on the ABC television series Lost as well as Kim Mills in the Taken trilogy. Maggie Grace was born in Worthington in Ohio. She was kicked out of high school after her parents divorced to go to Los Angeles to live with her mother. In the midst of financial hardship, she got her first role as Rachel's Room's title character the web-based video show Rachel's Room in 2001. In the following year, she was awarded an Young Artist Award nomination in 2002, for her role as the 15 year old murder victim Martha Moxley in the television film Murder set in Greenwich. Grace Rutherford, the character she played in Lost between 2004 and 2005, was selected for an Screen Actors Guild Award. After leaving the show, Grace was keen to work on film more frequently, having been cast as the opposite of Tom Welling in The Fog in 2005. The actress was as Kim Mills in Suburban Girl The Jane Austen Book Club (both 2007) and opposite Liam Neeson as Kim Mills in Taken in 2008. She played the same role as Kim Mills in Taken 2 and Taken 3 (both in 2012). Grace played the role as Shannon for two additional episodes of Lost which included the finale of the series. In 2013 she appears in Season 6 of Californication. The character she plays is Faith, who is the muse and fan of the actors. Hank Moody as played by David Duchovny falls in love with her. As a part of the Gyllenhaal Family she is the daughter and elder sister of the actor Jake Gyllenhaal. As a teenager her career began in small roles for her father. She was also in Donnie Darko with her twin brother. She then appeared as a character in Adaptation Confessions of a Dangerous Mind (both 2002) and Mona Lisa Smile (2003). Gyllenhaal has received acclaim from critics for her performance in the romantic erotic comedy drama Secretary (2002) and the dramatic Sherrybaby (2006) both of which earned her an Golden Globe Award nomination. The Dark Knight, which was released in 2008, following many highly successful movies, such as World Trade Center (2006) which brought her greater recognition, was a huge success for Gyllenhaal. Her performance in Crazy Heart as a mother who has a child received her a nomination for an Academy Award Best Supporting Actress. The subsequent roles she has played include Nanny McPhee and in the Big Bang and Hysteria. The other roles she's played includes Secret Service agents in White House Down (2013 an action thriller) and actors in Frank (2014, drama The Kindergarten Teacher 2018) in addition to The Kindergarten teacher. Gyllenhaal started her career as director, screenwriter and script writer when she wrote and directed the psychological thriller The Lost Daughter. The film won Best Screenplay at The Venice International Film Festival, and it was nominated by the Academy Award.
